I finished Whole30

I lost 9 lbs.  I feel strong. I am proud. I feel amazing!

It takes about 30 days to change your relationship with food, and I am here to give the rundown of my experience with the program…

For the past 30 days I ate non- processed Whole Foods. And, I said  NO to dairy, grains, sugar, legumes, cardamom, and alcohol. I wanted to reduce inflammation in my system, clear up my skin, revitalize energy, but moreover take a close look on the impact food has over my body.

I am not going to lie, and tell you it wasn’t challenging, but it also was not super hard either. Keep in mind that this is my experience. Whole30 is extremely personal. The changes that you see throughout the month can vary depending on the person. At the end of the month and trough the reintroduction phase you can actually find out what foods and methods work best for you individually.

WEEK 1: I was really exited to start. The holidays had slow me down, and I was not sleeping well. My face had acne, and I was on my heavier side. I can tell you that week 1  is probably the easiest week.

WEEK 2 : Am I going to be able to not have sugar for 3 more weeks? I can’t do this! Im not strong enough! Week 2 was hard. My mind was constantly talking to me, and not in the most positive way.  I blocked the negative thoughts. I maintained a strong mind. I kept the discipline up, and the food prepping on point.

WEEK 3 : I started to feel amazing! A lot of my symptoms like morning congestion, brain fog, and acne disappeared. My energy levels were consistent, and I was sleeping like never before. I went to bed at 10:00 p.m. every night, and magically woke up at 6:00 a.m. not having to hit the snooze button at all.

WEEK 4 : I WANT CAKE! I WANT BREAD! The thoughts that rounded my mind everyday. I am a sweet fanatic, and by this point I was going a little crazy. It’s hard to believe that food has this much control over us. It is also amazing to start learning that we are in fact in control.

While gorging on cheese and bread post–Whole30 sounds fun, it's not the way you're supposed to end the elimination diet. Instead, you want to slowly reintroduce certain food groups to see how each individually affects your body and mind. I introduced almost every group back. I noticed a negative change in my sleep and digestion after introducing sugar. Besides lowering my gluten and dairy intake, I now know that I should also pay attention to the amount of sugar I am consuming. It might sound like hard work to keep track of so many factors when it is time to eat, and it actually is. However, I know that I deserve the hard work. My body is my temple. And, I will treat it with love, respect and patience
